Michael Findlay
(Simon J. Green) loves women. He loves them so much he's turned into a sleazy
mess of a man. He finds a hot target in the form of a mysterious girl
(Tara Catmull) at a bizarre and almost pathetic bar called "the Snuff
Machine". When he picks her up with the bare minimum of awful pick up
lines, he thinks he's in for an easy screw. His predicted lay turns
into a night of horrific torture.
Based on true events.

"“... superior special effects... The torture sequences are truly
gruesome and pack just the right punch.” - Bradley Harding, Monsters At Play
"... convincingly delivered by the collaboration to depict gruesome consequences of violence... we literally feel Mike's pain. Most impressive is the use of lighting and its vivid colors." - Ray Casta, Severed Cinema
OFFICIAL SELECTION AT MUFF 7
Although The Snuff Machine is a small part of Cannibal Suburbia, it was shot in 2005... the first of the Cannibal stories. For this reason it was released as an individual film. The film is directed and written by David Jackson
and stars Simon J. Green and Tara Catmull. It's the first
production Dave and Simon have produced together. Snuff Machine had
been in the works far earlier than its actual production, with its first drafts being shat
out in early 2004. Simon was attached as the lead soon after the idea
had come
about. After the final draft was completed the grueling search for the
female
lead began. About twenty lengthy auditions later, Dave and Simon (along
with
Tristan Jones and Julia Chan) chose Tara Catmull, a young actress who
had
featured in a handful of Australian shows such as Wicked Science and Fergus McPhail.
The rest of the small supporting cast is made up of
Pleasant Productions regulars such as Josh Crawford (Dante Derris of The Devil's Primetime),
Kim Armstrong and Tim Robertson. It also features Donkey Punch Disco
and the Secret Mango in a special live performance of "Muthaphukka, I
Will Stab You". The
crew consisted of Lucas Testro (lighting), Tom Kinsman (camera),
Tristan Jones (sound) and Bill Irving (first A.D.) with make up and
prosthetics by the very talented
Luciana Rose (who had an outrageous amount of work for this shoot). The
shoot went for five days with its post-production hell exceeding two
months. The music is supplied by Melbourne musician, The Feeder. The
final product has a running time of twenty
minutes. Dave is very proud of the fact that someone fainted at its
premiere. He also got accused of being a sicko by an audience member at
the Melbourne Underground Film Festival in 2006. Fun times!
